Overview

Nestled along Johnson Road in the peaceful town of Yahk, BC, Two Scoop Steve offers a refreshing escape for anyone craving quality ice cream paired with a down-to-earth atmosphere. This ice cream shop feels less like a quick roadside stop and more like a local treasure where both residents and travelers find something special.

The highlight, as the name suggests, begins with their generous scoops of artisanal ice cream from Foothills Creamery. Flavors range from classic butterscotch to more unique options like black licorice and Saskatoon berry, served up in freshly made, crisp waffle cones that showcase the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship. The Saskatoon ice cream waffle cone, in particular, embodies local flavor, blending regional ingredients with traditional techniques.

Beyond the ice cream, Two Scoop Steve surprises with savory offerings like the pastrami sandwich, signature burgers, breakfast sandwiches, and golden fries. The homemade nature of their bread and patties adds depth to the experience, transforming a simple lunch pit stop into a memorable meal. This balance between sweet and savory appeals to a wide audience—from families looking for a casual outing to road trippers needing a break and locals craving comfort food with character.

The shop itself radiates warmth through its quirky, inviting decor and heartfelt service. It manages to evoke a classic roadside charm without feeling outdated. Friendly staff engage genuinely, creating an atmosphere where visitors feel welcomed to linger and enjoy the space as much as the food. While some seasonal changes to flavor displays have caused minor confusion among regulars, the attentive team readily bridges that gap by offering helpful descriptions and recommendations.

In essence, Two Scoop Steve stands as a culinary oasis in the Kootenays—an approachable, lively spot where quality ingredients meet genuine hospitality. Whether you’re drawn by the promise of homemade ice cream indulgence or a satisfying, well-crafted sandwich, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression beyond the usual food stop.

Don’t Just Drive By! Our family loved our visit to Two Scoop Steve! The Foothills Creamery ice cream was delicious, with generous scoops and homemade waffle cones that really made it special. Prices were very reasonable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. My personal favorite was the black licorice—absolutely worth the stop. Highly recommended!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Charming Stop with Delicious Ice Cream and Personality! Two Scoop Steve is an absolute must-stop if you’re passing through Yahk! This quirky little spot has so much charm — from the fun decor to the friendly service, it instantly puts a smile on your face. The ice cream is fantastic — creamy, flavorful, and served in generous portions. They’ve got a great selection of flavors (something for everyone), and the cones are made fresh and crisp. It’s clear they put real care into every scoop. The atmosphere is what makes it truly special. It’s got that perfect roadside gem vibe — laid-back, welcoming, and full of character. The staff was super friendly, and it’s a great place to take a break, stretch your legs, and enjoy something sweet. Highly recommend this place whether you’re a local or just passing through. It’s a little scoop of happiness in the Kootenays!

I’m a regular here, always a great spot to stop. But I don’t understand why the change they made for summer 2025 where you can’t physically see all the flavours in the freezer cases. A real disappointment as the names are not sufficient enough to describe what each flavour is, seeing it is WAY better!!! It takes longer as you have to ask the cashier what the flavours mean if they aren’t obvious.

We stopped there for lunch and I was blown away by everything from the service to the food, the environment, cleanliness and the candle shop. We ordered hamburgers and a poutine. Everything is homemade… the hamburger, bun and fries. By far the best burger and fries I have ever had. If you are near this area it is a must stop location! You won’t be disappointed; we sure weren’t!
